Cannes Goodness

Having just come back from a fabulous site inspection to the south of France, we are buzzing with excitement of some new locations in and around Cannes. Most famous for events such as the Cannes Film Festival (which took place last week) and Cannes Boat Show, this is the perfect location to entertain clients or to treat your team.

Our trip this time took us by boat to a local island, through security gates onto the world-famous beach and into the old town for a taste of Provence.

As a modern, trend-setting city for both fashion and entertainment around the world, it is well set up for many events. With over 100 hotel locations and 3200 shops, Cannes is France’s second-largest business tourism destination. Not only this, but this seaside destination has over 300 sunny days a year, as well as having great transport links to areas in Europe as well as an airport only 25km away, making it the perfect destination.

That is all the information you will find by surfing the internet.   For our client, visiting in late September, we wanted to find some of the unusual nooks and crannies that will make their retreat truly memorable.  What better place to start that St Honorat, one of the Lerins islands just off the coast and home 20 Cistercian monks who run the local ferry service, the wonderful island restaurant and even a vineyard (with some rather tasty offerings in the island shop).

On this peaceful island is the old monastery which was the first listed monument in Europe and enjoys a rugged existence on the southernmost tip of the island where the wind and sea bashes every side.  This is our chosen venue for the meeting element of the event later this year – one that will set the tone for the rest of the event.

We don’t want to give it all away here but will be sure to profile it in a later newsletter so keep your eyes peeled.  For now, here is what our Operations Director said of the trip;
